Position Summary:

The Senior Technical Associate provides technical support to business development initiatives, project implementation, and Creative thought leadership. The Senior Technical Associate spends a significant percentage of timeon business development. This position will participate in business development capture efforts and support proposal development as a contributing writer, reviewer, or subject matter expert. The Senior Technical Associate will provide technical inputs to the development and execution of the EG annual business plans and multi-year strategic plan. This includes contributing to the development of internal and external communications, thought leadership, and positioning documents and activities; desk research and networking that contributes to new and promising technical approaches, potential partners, and staff; and support presenting Creative’s work in industry forums, conferences, and meetings with partners and clients. The Senior Technical Associate may provide technical and/or administrative support to field project(s) and may participate in field assignments and meetings with clients, external stakeholders, and government officials.

 

The Senior Technical Associate will have experience  in economic growth and development, with a particular interest and/or focus on workforce development, livelihoods development, private sector engagement, trade and investment, and/or private sector competitiveness. The EG Technical Advisor will also have interest and/or expertise in a cross-cutting area such as gender equality and social inclusion (GESI), climate change and environmental sustainability, youth engagement, and/or digital development and innovation.

 

Reporting & Supervision:

The Senior Technical Associate will report directly to a Technical Advisor, with indirect reporting lines to other EG technical team members for specific assignments.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plays a key role in business development to assure continued portfolio development within the EG technical area, specifically:
    • Serving as a Subject Matter Expert for business development initiatives within the EG division and in other Creatives technical divisions
    • Participating in capture activities, including conducting desk research and in-country capture trips
    • Contributing to proposal development by conducting research, participating in technical design discussions, and drafting proposal sections.
    • Supporting partner, client and other stakeholder relationship building and communication
  • Provides technical assistance to projects that ensures high-quality technical delivery of program implementation. This includes:
    • Coordinating technical activities between HQ technical and support divisions and field teams that supports high-quality technical delivery of projects
    • Contributing to the preparation of project reports and other project deliverables from a technical standpoint
    • Support technical capacity strengthening to project teams, project partners, and other project stakeholders
  • Provides internal and external technical thought leadership by:
    • Providing technical input to company-wide initiatives and cross functional teams
    • Representing Creative at industry events and participating in industry working groups and other technical platforms
    • Collaborating on the development of technical briefs, blog posts, guidance notes, and other internal and external communications that deepen Creative technical knowledge and positioning within the industry

Qualifications

Minimum Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and eight years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree and five years of relevant experience;
  • Strong interest/passion for international development, especially in workforce development, livelihoods development, private sector engagement, trade and investment, and private sector competitiveness. Interest/experience in cross cutting technical areas like gender equality and social inclusion (GESI), climate change and environmental sustainability, youth engagement, and/or digital development and innovation is preferable.
  • Prior experience providing technical services for a USAID or Department of State project;
  • Prior experience in international development in a donor funded setting;
  • Prior experience in business and proposal development;
  • Experience organizing and managing program/project knowledge/information;
  • Basic level of data analysis skills
  • Strong writing and editing skills; excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills;
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 weeks per year
  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently;
  • Ability to multi-task under tight deadlines; ability to travel internationally on short notice; and
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, etc.).

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Foreign Language skills in French, Spanish, or Arabic preferred
  • Experience living/working in a developing country context

Compensation & Benefits:

For employees working in the United States, the full-time equivalent annual base salary for this position is expected to be between ($87,00 to 98,000). Salary for part-time employees will be prorated based on actual hours worked. Actual offers will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant education, experience, skills, seniority, performance, and business or organizational needs.

 

Eligible U.S. based employees, will be able to enroll in medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus a 401(k)-retirement plan with a company match. Additionally, employees will be eligible for company-paid annual leave (vacation & holidays), sick leave, parental leave; as well as short- and long-term disability coverage. Detailed information will be provided at the time a formal offer is extended.

For employees working outside of the United States, compensation and benefits will vary based on location.
