Creative seeks a Project Director (PD) for the Education for Development Division with a passion for development, commitment to results and offers intellectual curiosity in designing effective solutions. The PD responsibilities include both project management and new business development leadership. The PD will be responsible for performing complex work within the project area.  Project Directors assume responsibilities for management of projects typically of $20M+ in funding, depending upon variables such as the complexity, projected timeline of the projects, and geographic location of the work.  The PD is responsible for technical, financial, compliance and accountability for the performance of assigned projects.  The PD supervises project HQ support staff and field staff to ensure quality programming, and achievement of financial targets and contractual outcomes.  The PD will also carry responsibility for leading and participating in new business development initiatives for the division, further described below. The Creative Development Lab (Lab) is a small intrapreneurial innovation team at Creative, particularly focused on digital development: leveraging information and communication technologies for international development program objectives. Areas of recent work have included building resilience to online disinformation, citizen participation in governance and democratic processes, youth behavior change using digital media, monitoring using satellite imagery and big data, safeguarding women in digital spaces, etc. The Education Division (ED) supports local and national efforts to increase student learning achievement—across ages and stages from early childhood and early grades—through proven models for increasing literacy, numeracy, attendance and community engagement. In ED programming, the Lab has for instance led the implementation of digital solutions in book distribution such as Track & Trace systems and made local language reading content available to primary school children’s homes via SMS and IVR low-tech technologies. International education is undergoing a transformation with digital solutions to support distance or blended learning, remote training, teacher coaching, assessments, school level data monitoring and reporting, book distribution, community engagement, social and emotional learning, digital and media literacy, accessibility and inclusion, and other facets of international education programming. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated this. The EdTech Lead will be responsible to lead the strategic thinking, approach, processes, technologies, systems, partner collaboration and research insights to appropriately help realize the digital transformation of international education programming at Creative. The EdTech Lead will: - Conduct assessments of connectivity, digital divide, education technology infrastructure, organizational capacity for edtech, commercial actors, etc. in target countries to guide program design and country government/ministry investments; - Identify and build tools to help with decision making, blended learning implementation and evaluation of digital solutions in international education; - Secure opportunities to provide technical assistance in Creative’s education programs and deliver high quality technical assistance for project or activity implementation; and - Identify and pursue funding opportunities for pilots, innovation and research in digital solutions for international education The position will be housed at the Creative Development Lab.
